When I first started following Dimash, the first thing that struck me was the overwhelming realization that I was witnessing a prodigy. A true prodigy. No other word feels adequate. I had lived long enough, listened to enough singers, and explored enough genres of music to know when I was hearing something genuinely extraordinary. My taste has always been eclectic, and because of that, I recognised immediately that Dimash possessed a rare and exceptional gift. What surprised me, however, was that not everyone seemed to see it. Yes, he was already causing chaos in airports and arenas across China, drawing huge crowds and intense reactions wherever he went. But outside of that, I often found myself wondering: why weren’t more people talking about him? Were they simply not hearing what I was hearing?  On the 'Voice Beyond Horizon' episode finale, Dimash and Mansur performed the song 'When I've Got You' so very very well. Watching the two, I could see how much more confident and self-assured Dimash is in performing in English... and the audience reaction was so favourable.  Especially from the women.  He was definitely radiating some serious heat on that stage.  As for Mansur, it was such a pleasure seeing how he has transformed from that hesitant shy young man to a more poised musician in tune with his instrument. I look forward to seeing him bloom and fly high.

 Seeing Dimash in the piano seat, I am immediately reminded of Igor Krutoy playing the piano for Dimash's performances.  Now it is his turn to support another.  And Nurzhas Sadirbayev is an absolute monster of a talent.  His singing is incredible... very emotive and he can navigate intricate vocal pathways. This song is a beauty.  But yes, that is a given, seeing it was composed by Dimash.

 Watching and listening to the Gashyqtyq music video, I see the look on Dimash's face and can feel how intense his emotions are. But when I read the subtitles and see the translation of 'gashyqtyq' to 'infatuation', I cannot believe it. Infatuation is such a 'poor' word because it is something fleeting and disappears too fast. Yes, it is intense but it is too shallow an emotion to merit the level of passion in Dimash's singing.  I also know that a story is always best understood in its original language and translations can only hope to offer pale shadows of the tale. So today I decided to find out what 'Gashyqtyq' actually meant and this is what I found on the Internet.  It is a holiday in my country, so I had some time to get enough rest and take a deep dive into the fandom, seeing what I had missed.  And of course I had to listen to Gashyqtyq properly.  A quiet room and with Bang Olufsen speakers. Dimash creates such beauty with his singing... he makes the words spellbinding, gently spiralling around his listeners, binding them with such achingly heartbreaking emotion.  I can feel so much pain but cannot break free, I don't want to break free... it is like looking into the darkest parts of the soul, so deep and fathomless...  I fear what I might see but I cannot look away.  Nine years ago, Dimash stepped up on a stage in China and performed so spectacularly that countless lives were changed.  That decision of his triggered so many to start doing things they had forgotten or never done before... in music and art.  So many got passports, bought tickets so they could fly to concerts in cities they had never heard of before.  Many more installed apps so they could get more of his music.  Going far beyond their comfort zone...  Here is that incredible SOS D'un Terrien En Detresse on the Singer 2017 stage.  Dimash sang Edith Piaf's 'Hymne à L'amour' at the Opening Ceremony of the Shanghai International Film Festival on June 21, 2025.  What an incredible performance!  I think it has become one of my top recommended videos to new people.  Dimash really presented something that fit the many colours of a film festival.

 'Red Moon Rules' by Dimash and Huang Xiaoyun is a vocal tapestry of beauty!  I actually forgot to breathe while watching the two of them weave their magic.  Oh wow... 'Angel Love' is a beautiful beautiful song... and the way Dimash sang it, it was as if he was slowly & gently revealing a string of pearls, sphere by iridescent sphere.  At the start of the performance, you could only see his silhouette and his downbent head told you volumes about his thoughts.  Then he started singing ... Sen mağan maxabbat sıyladıñ (You gave me love) Sylladin dunie didaryn (You showed me the beautiful face of the world) And immediately one knew ... oh what a heartbreaking song this would be.  And so it was.  I love vertical fancams of Dimash Qudaibergen  singing. The screen fills up my entire phone screen and he looks as if he is there just in front of me. Dimash48 has some of the best quality fancams around... bless their hearts for being willing to lug all the heavy equipment around.  Imagine how sad it would be if these fancams didn't exist... so much of Dimash's artistry unknown to the world. One of my favourite things to see musicians do is dueling... or jamming... or whatever you call it when they let loose and play riffs off each other. Or just have marvelous fun with their music. Hence, one of my dreams would be to sit quietly in a corner (I don't even need to be fed!) in a room full of musicians jamming and dueling with Dimash. But, well, that's not likely to happen so the next best thing is watching him sing 'Qazaqstan' and have that duel with the guitarist. Yes, that still thrills me, even after 4 years. Today, exactly 4 years ago (on 20 October 2017), I encountered Dimash and fell down the rabbit hole. Still inside that hole and not likely to come out any time soon.  Dimash was at Sochi, Russia from 19th to 25th August 2021 for New Wave 2021 (Новая волна).  Invited by Maestro Igor Krutoy (Игорь Крутой), Dimash was a jury member as well as guest performer.  The judging was for the International Competition for Young Pop Singers.  That week was an amazing week as Dimash premiered THREE amazing songs. He also sang two others ('I Miss You' and 'Your Love', both composed by Igor Krutoy.). 'Stranger' was premiered during the Opening Ceremony of New Wave. 'Fly Away' was premiered on the fourth day of New Wave. 'Ave Maria' was performed at the Closing Ceremony These three songs are totally amazing and require individual posts.  Absolute masterpieces.  Dimash is surrounded by great talents and they are so supportive of him.

When Dimash was still in university, he was offered a position at Astana Opera State Theatre by the director, Toleubek Alpiyev.  He said that Dimash's voice would be 'ideal for baroque opera'.  But Dimash chose to pursue a career in contemporary music.  The offer was made after Dimash's duet with Sundet Baigozhin on a Russian competition for young opera singers 'Big Opera 2016'.   They sang an aria 'Tu Vas Me Détruire' from the musical 'Notre Dame De Paris'.  At that time, Sundet was representing Kazakhstan on the international project 'Big Opera 2016'.  Notre-Dame de Paris is a sung-through French musical which debuted on 16 September 1998 in Paris. It is based upon the novel Notre-Dame de Paris (The Hunchback of Notre-Dame) by the French novelist Victor Hugo.  Last year, at Kiev Concert, Dimash sang a Ukrainian song called 'Chornobryvtsi' (Marigolds). He sang it so gently, so tenderly... I could almost visualise him walking in a garden of #marigolds, his fingers barely touching the petals so as not to bruise them. And his mama Miua beside him.  Dimash has the genius of choosing songs that can touch hearts, crossing barriers of race, culture and even language. Or perhaps it is his interpretation that carries these songs over those barriers. Well, whatever it may be, whenever I think of marigolds or of mothers,  I will think of Chornobryvtsi.  What is it about Dimash's voice that has this indefinable quality... it's not only the sound but it's also the feel of his sound. When he sings, his voice seems to actually flow over you and sink into your heart, mind, soul... and the strange thing is not everyone gets it or experiences it.  But those who do... oh wow, they go into rhapsodies and spend hours just listening to him sing. One of my favourite 'feel' Dimash songs is 'I Miss You'. When he goes low, his sound shivers over my skin and just makes me feel like I want to keep hearing it. And when he goes high, my heart jumps into my throat and I hold my breath because I don't want to miss a single note. It's like a wash of magical emotion over me. I wish I could describe it better. The effect is more obvious when he performs to a live audience...
