The Singer 2017 was a program for established singers to face off against each other in a competition where votes were cast by an audience of 500. The series premiered on 21 January 2017 and ended on 22 April 2017.

Dimash Kudaibergen was a last-minute inclusion (a 'dark horse'). But his performance of 'SOS D'un Terrien En Detresse' electrified the audience, his fellow competitors and the viewers who numbered in the billions (this program was one of the most-watched in China and outside).
