CCTV (China Central Television) just loves Dimash and I'm happy! They keep asking him to perform on their shows, such as the 2024 New Year's broadcast.   Dimash performed 'Movin' On' with Jike Junyi, a really fun and energetic number.

  It is the storyteller that I love in Dimash.   He uses every tool he has to convey a message or a tale. His words, his melody, his eyes, his hands... whatever he can arrange. And he combines them in a mesmerising whole that sears itself in our minds, hearts and souls.   Dramatic much 😂 but it seems this is how I have to be in order to convey how I feel about his art.  I just had a totally normal Facebook post taken down. It was just a congratulatory post about Dimash receiving honours from his country. Facebook said it has cybersecurity issues. I think it's Facebook that has issues. Instagram too. META 🙄😒 So now I'm looking into alternatives. This blog is definitely one alternative. So I'll be focusing more into it. But I have another platform in mind.

  Two years ago, Dimash came out of the lockdown period and absolutely stunned me when he sang 'I Miss You' onstage in a performance so soulful and so personal that it felt very very real... as if he was really feeling the loss of his beloved dears (yes, I'm being fanciful).  But that's one of his capabilities... to make every song feel so personal, so real to each listener that they walk in a haze for hours afterwards (half in disbelief and half in amazement)   I'm no newbie to super good singers. I grew up in a house of instrumentalists and I had access to recordings from so many decades. Believe me when I say Dimash is a cut above many many singers.  Dang, he's amazing.

 I think Omir (Life) is one of the most beautiful and heartfelt songs Dimash has composed and performed so far. In this song, he laid his heart and soul bare. Dimash's song 'Together' is thought-provoking. As usual. And his music video released last week leaves many things to the imagination. It is worth taking note that the music was composed by his younger brother, Mansur.  The MV starts with two young men in spacesuits walking on a seemingly-uninhabitable surface but then they come across a plant which is identified as 'oxygenium'. The care with which they handle it implies it is a very precious thing... maybe capable of generating oxygen? Then the story flows, mixing snapshots of their life in the spaceship with flashbacks of their life with family at home. I won't say more because I've come to realise that different people will see different things. The MV is questioning us all... "If you want to change the world, let's start today." but will we?
