Thoughts On 'More Than Singer : Why the World Needs Dimash Now More Than Ever'

Reading the article " More Than Singer: Why World Needs Dimash Now More Than Ever " from The Astana Times, I find it a deeply reflective perspective on Dimash's role as an artist. The writer Aida Haidar acknowledges Dimash's extraordinary vocal range and talent but highlights how his music is more than mere entertainment. Aida emphasizes his emotional depth and the power of his performances, which go beyond just songs—they become experiences that resonate with listeners on a profound, personal level. Aida Haidar also touches on Dimash's ability to unite people globally, fostering a sense of togetherness through his music and his humble, authentic persona. The article suggests that Dimash's influence and the messages in his songs, such as the call for peace and unity in "The Story of One Sky," are especially important in the current world, which faces challenges like war, division, and tragedy. In times like these, artists like Dimash are more than j...

Dimash's Best Songs

Ah yes, the question that keeps getting asked.   Every time I ask this question in the International Fan Club, I get different answers. I myself keep changing my mind. I suppose it's a personal thing.  So today I thought of asking ChatGPT this. And this is what the AI said: Number One : Love Is Like A Dream - a beautiful and emotional ballad that resonates with many fans Number Two : Olimpico (aka Ogni Pietra) - powerful and dramatic  Number Three : Sinful Passion - noted for its technical difficulty and Dimash's incredible vocal range Number Four : Love of Tired Swans - it was the most viewed song on Russia 1 YouTube Channel in 2018, won an award for best song in the same year and praiseworthy for the composition and performance  Number Five : Stranger - a fan favourite known for its haunting melody and lyrics.  Number Six : When I've Got You - a newer song that gained significant popularity  Personally, I'd add ' SOS D'un Terrien Un...

Delightful Words About Dimash Qudaibergen

In the years since I have become a fan of Dimash Qudaibergen, I have read endless streams of words about him. Some were rhapsodies, some sound like technical vocal manuals and others sound like typical teenager gushings. I prefer balanced descriptions and I have come across some pretty good posts or articles about him.  Here are six. Malaysian news article : Kazakh Singer's Hauntingly Beautiful Gig   Bel Canto Vocal School spoke about the phenomenon of Dimash .  Elizabeth Khan called Dimash a Kazakh prodigy . Loredana Michelis is a psychologist and she talked about the Dimash Effect . Eris says Dimash has spoiled every other song for her.

In an 'Operatic-Dimash' Kind of Mind

I'm in an 'Operatic-Dimash' kind of mind 😅 and I do so love the way he sings 'Passione'.  He has sung this song a few times, notably at New Wave 2019 and at the Kazakh National University of The Arts' 25th anniversary gala (April 23, 2023).   Personally I like the KazNUA one.  Grim, intense and so dramatic.  Watch it and you will see what I mean.   Link direct to Passione on official concert video on Shabyt Channel https://youtu.be/0Nt6M-bx2Vw?t=3356s

Dimash Speaks In Such Artistic Ways

I have been fascinated by Dimash's art for quite a while. And I've spent the past few years identifying the reasons and anyone will know what some of them are from my many posts on why I like him.   Today I found another reason. Hooray for me (more reason to stay on in this rollercoaster of a fandom 😂)   REASON : He speaks about life and love in beautiful artistic ways. His music, his lyrics, his set pieces... I've 'mourned' over the changes in this world, long letters forgotten in favour of terse emails and brief smses... complex detailed creations simplified as much as possible... relationships made transitory by many pressures and expectations... basically a world condensed and truncated.   Most people no longer take time to do things. And the results leave a taste in the mouth that disappears too fast.   Dimash creates art that talks about life and love in beautifully-arranged ways, and he prepares the message to be conveyed, like a f...

The Storyteller In Dimash Qudaibergen

It is the storyteller that I love in Dimash.   He uses every tool he has to convey a message or a tale. His words, his melody, his eyes, his hands... whatever he can arrange. And he combines them in a mesmerising whole that sears itself in our minds, hearts and souls.   Dramatic much 😂 but it seems this is how I have to be in order to convey how I feel about his art. Ordinary syntax just don't do the job right. Phew. Here are photos taken of Dimash by Laura DimashDQD at Hong Kong Concert on December 23, 2023.

Dimash Is A Cut Above

Two years ago, Dimash came out of the lockdown period and absolutely stunned me when he sang 'I Miss You' onstage in a performance so soulful and so personal that it felt very very real... as if he was really feeling the loss of his beloved dears (yes, I'm being fanciful).  But that's one of his capabilities... to make every song feel so personal, so real to each listener that they walk in a haze for hours afterwards (half in disbelief and half in amazement)   I'm no newbie to super good singers. I grew up in a house of instrumentalists and I had access to recordings from so many decades. Believe me when I say Dimash is a cut above many many singers.  Dang, he's amazing.

How Very Enchanting Dimash Is

Saw these screenshots on Weibo (taken by KLEEFUNINELIE from a Dimash48 fancam) and marvelled all over again over how very gorgeous and charismatic Dimash is. http://m.weibo.cn/status/4310233330882673  Once you are caught by the beauty of his art (which encapsulates everything of him, his sound, his physicality, his drama onstage!), all it takes is a visual and his music plays again in your head. And you are lost again.   I had to go over to Dimash48 channel to watch this fancam again.   How very enchanting you are, Dimash. I'm so pleased to be one of those who hears the sound of your flute.

Why Dimash is Crazy Good : The Opinion of an American Rocker

Very descriptive words about Dimash... and I agree!   Caravan.kz article (by Akhmet Talapuly) https://www.caravan.kz/news/pochemu-dimash-bezumen-mnenie-amerikanskogo-rokera-961680/    Here is the text (translated by Google)   Why Dimash is crazy good : the opinion of an American rocker   The name Dimash is a symbol of virtuoso vocal art, which goes beyond ordinary musical concepts. His talent takes listeners into the world of the greatest performers, and his story has become legendary. He is the brightest representative of the musical art, possessing indescribable skill and style that impresses and inspires. Without embellishment, we can say that Dimash is not just a singer, he is a musical genius who is able to represent any genre and make it his own.  His performance makes millions of hearts beat faster, and his voice leaves an unforgettable impression. Despite his young age, he has already won the respect and recognition of even...

How An Artist Gets A Fandom

Have you noticed the way Dimash answers the question of how he became so popular (i.e. global fans)? My funny bone gets tickled when Dimash says he doesn't know.   At other occasions, he made comments referring to how lucky he is, mentioning there are others with more talent but he seems to have the good fortune to have his Dears.   Today I decided to find out if other people have discussed the topic of how artists get (or don't get) fandoms and I found an interesting chat in Reddit.   Link to Reddit thread : https://www.reddit.com/r/popheads/comments/f1dw8b/why_do_some_artists_develop_dedicated_fanbases/    Here are two thought-provoking comments.   The artists with dedicated fanbases either has/had a fresh/unique sound in the landscape at their time, or an interesting personality or backstory that many people are interested in or can relate to, which makes them want to root for said artists because they want the artist to succee...

Dimash & Dears : Together Forever

From the time Dimash named his fans 'Dears', there has been a strong connection between him and Dears. Even to the point of 'arguing' with dears.. 'Love you!' 'Love you more!' at his concerts. And there was that short but cute exchange of 'Dears & Dimash' and 'Dimash & Dears' on video edits and Instagram posts which finally ended with him winning when he suddenly posted a video of himself at 5 years of age playing the keyboard. Something very personal and not expected of the very private Dimash. I think the pandemic tested this connection very much. When he had a concert at Dubai... he must have wondered if dears would come. And after Dubai, there were two more concerts long delayed (Dusseldorf and Prague). This article by Astana Times mentioned it. Shades of Sound in Dimash's Vocals

I'm sitting at my laptop, pricey headphones gripping my head and holding my ears prisoner... listening to Dimash sing.  I fear I am going into another time vortex.  (Lots of interdimensional travel in Dimashstan.) When I listen to his 'Okay', I can actually hear soft breaths and whispers trailing into more wisps of sounds. SERIOUSLY.  I even heard piano notes sliding into other notes, like drops of water gently flowing into a pool. I could only hear these with these pricey headphones.  (I don't know what you call them but they have fat cushions, which I earlier thought was for the comfort of my ears but apparently not.).  Dimash is actually layering sound upon sound.... creating this beautiful audio experience.  Did I hear a xylophone???  Oh man.... I need to listen to his 'Zhalyn' now.

Dimash Studios on Weibo

Artists based in China have Weibo accounts called 'Studio' or 'Workshop' where others can see reposts of artists' posts, photos from shoots made on location at events, cartoons, posters, random announcements. So Dimash has one set up by an agency he was with. Yesterday I saw a new one. Hmmm, something tells me I should download what I can get off his old Dimash Studio.  'Old' Dimash Studio https://weibo.com/u/6107668188 'New' Dimash Studio https://weibo.com/u/7708246280

The Indefinable Quality of Dimash's Voice

What is it about Dimash's voice that has this indefinable quality... it's not only the sound but it's also the feel of his sound. When he sings, his voice seems to actually flow over you and sink into your heart, mind, soul... and the strange thing is not everyone gets it or experiences it.  But those who do... oh wow, they go into rhapsodies and spend hours just listening to him sing. One of my favourite 'feel' Dimash songs is 'I Miss You'. When he goes low, his sound shivers over my skin and just makes me feel like I want to keep hearing it. And when he goes high, my heart jumps into my throat and I hold my breath because I don't want to miss a single note. It's like a wash of magical emotion over me. I wish I could describe it better. The effect is more obvious when he performs to a live audience... Here is a video of his performance of 'I Miss You' at Moscow (2020).  I love the way he looks at his dears standing at the edge of the stage ...

Dimash Has Me Entranced

One of the reasons I'm still hopelessly lost in Dimash's world of entrancing music is that I keep encountering jaw-dropping performances that he puts on for us and I never get tired of viewing them. One special performance was 'Love of Tired Swans' with Igor Krutoy at MUZ-TV 2019 Awards show. He sang so beautifully on an incredibly mesmerising stage with amazing dancers telling the story with lush visuals and enchanting effects. Then, as if all that wasn't enough, there was a few moments with a swan in a water column. I'm enchanted!

Dimash... Charismatic To The Nth Degree

One of the first things I noticed about Dimash way back in 2017 was how good he was at pulling people's eyes to him.  Practically riveting those helpless people's eyes to him.  It's awesome to watch this happen.  Naturally, I'm one of his hapless victims. Magnetism, charisma, aura... call it what you may, he has it by the boatload. Dimash Kudaibergen Today, I was on the Internet looking for stuff to toss at my students during online classes.  And I found something interesting.  An article titled 'What Makes People Charismatic'.  It says that there are three pillars of charisma. One is PRESENCE.  Being in the moment.  Being there in the place, with the people. Nothing is as magnetic as someone who is interested in you.  Dimash has this in spades, I'm sure you agree. Another is POWER.  Believing you are where you are meant to be.  Believing you are worthy and that your skills and passion have value and are interesting to others....
