 Today is an exciting day because at 20:45 CET, Virtuosos will broadcast a recording of Dimash Qudaibergen and Placido Domingo singing the famous duet "Au fond du temple saint" ("At the back of the holy temple"). This is a duet from Georges Bizet's 1863 opera Les pêcheurs de perles (The Pearl Fishers).   The promo video Virtuosos is an international competition where contestants (classical musicians) perform music pieces accompanied by the renowned Hungarian State Opera. An international jury will select one winner for each country. These contestants will be supported even after the competition and given opportunities to participate in international concerts.   I have been fascinated by Dimash's art for quite a while. And I've spent the past few years identifying the reasons and anyone will know what some of them are from my many posts on why I like him.   Today I found another reason. Hooray for me (more reason to stay on in this rollercoaster of a fandom 😂)   REASON : He speaks about life and love in beautiful artistic ways. His music, his lyrics, his set pieces... I've 'mourned' over the changes in this world, long letters forgotten in favour of terse emails and brief smses... complex detailed creations simplified as much as possible... relationships made transitory by many pressures and expectations... basically a world condensed and truncated.   Most people no longer take time to do things. CCTV (China Central Television) just loves Dimash and I'm happy! They keep asking him to perform on their shows, such as the 2024 New Year's broadcast.   Dimash performed 'Movin' On' with Jike Junyi, a really fun and energetic number.

  It is the storyteller that I love in Dimash.   He uses every tool he has to convey a message or a tale. His words, his melody, his eyes, his hands... whatever he can arrange. And he combines them in a mesmerising whole that sears itself in our minds, hearts and souls.   Dramatic much 😂 but it seems this is how I have to be in order to convey how I feel about his art.  I am feeling sooo happy because of the award Kazakhstan has honoured Dimash with.  This award 'People's Artist of Kazakhstan' is the highest honour that Kazakhstan can give to anyone in his field. It is truly something very special. He has been recognised as someone very valuable with the highest levels of contribution towards his nation.  I just had a totally normal Facebook post taken down. It was just a congratulatory post about Dimash receiving honours from his country. Facebook said it has cybersecurity issues. I think it's Facebook that has issues. Instagram too. META 🙄😒 So now I'm looking into alternatives. This blog is definitely one alternative. So I'll be focusing more into it. But I have another platform in mind.

  Two years ago, Dimash came out of the lockdown period and absolutely stunned me when he sang 'I Miss You' onstage in a performance so soulful and so personal that it felt very very real... as if he was really feeling the loss of his beloved dears (yes, I'm being fanciful).  But that's one of his capabilities... to make every song feel so personal, so real to each listener that they walk in a haze for hours afterwards (half in disbelief and half in amazement)   I'm no newbie to super good singers. I grew up in a house of instrumentalists and I had access to recordings from so many decades. Believe me when I say Dimash is a cut above many many singers.  Dang, he's amazing.
