 In 2017, I stumbled across Dimash and got swept away but wasn't quite sure why I liked this skinny beanpole (which he was, in 2017).  I wasn't quite in the habit of dissecting my tastes, preferences etc. But over the years, thanks largely to comments by dears and analyses by musicians & reactors, I got to understand why. I like the scintillating layers in Dimash's music (just as I like the layers in Shakespeare's writing). He uses thin fragile-looking layers to create a powerful whole, a piece of music that flows into my heart, mind, soul and I become speechless, trying to catch hold of what I am experiencing.  I like the tiny almost imperceptible garnishes and flourishes he decorates his art with... they make me go 'What? What?? What was that??' I like the way he uses dark to show light and brightness to focus attention on something melancholy.  I like the way his art makes me think and wonder... like peeling an onion of unending layers. He weaves thoughts...

 When I first learned about Dimash Kudaibergen aka Dimash Qudaibergen, I tried looking for information about him on the Internet.  This was in 2017 and I didn't know that most of the information about him was either in Kazakh, Russian or Mandarin.  Very little was in English. So I thought and thought... and said to myself where would I find information about a young artist?  The answer was obvious... fan groups!  So off I went into Facebook... I didn't know how to use Instagram then and I didn't think Twitter would be much help. And that is how I found Dimash Kudaibergen International Fan Club .  Due to changes in the Kazakh alphabet (changing from Cyrillic to Latin), Dimash's name was now spelled Qudaibergen but the fan group has not changed the spelling as of this post as they felt a deep attachment to the history behind the K. From a group of 2000+ fans, it has now grown to almost 69,000 members... fans of the incredible vocal talents of a young Kazakh a...

 When I was preparing to go for Dimash's Kuala Lumpur concert, I realised I needed to be able to sing along with him.  But I couldn't memorise all the lyrics.  I thought of printing these lyrics out as a proper concert song lyrics booklet.  But time got away from me and I couldn't do this... which turned out to be a blessing because I wouldn't have been able to read the booklet.  It was too dark most times and it would have been too awkward to use a phone as a light.  At said concert, I had to hold the H letter of a DIMASH word lights.  LUCKILY I uploaded the song booklet up on Anyflip so I could access it anywhere, anytime, anyhow.  Since then I have created two different versions of this song booklet and am right now doing a third one.  Well, it keeps me out of mischief. Astana saw an amazing weekend with concerts from Friday to Sunday ... Dimash on Friday and Saturday nights and Olzhas Qurmanbek's 'Magic of Qobyz' on Sunday night.  My friends who went were unable to say much... except that they had the time of their lives... they were the best concerts ever... and Dimash was superb onstage (and his second concert offered different marvels)... and I felt so awful because I couldn't go.  'Red Moon Rules' by Dimash and Huang Xiaoyun is a vocal tapestry of beauty!  I actually forgot to breathe while watching the two of them weave their magic.  Oh wow...  In the years since I have become a fan of Dimash Qudaibergen, I have read endless streams of words about him. Some were rhapsodies, some sound like technical vocal manuals and others sound like typical teenager gushings. I prefer balanced descriptions and I have come across some pretty good posts or articles about him.  Here are six.  How does a Dimash dear prepare for a concert?  Well, I'm sure every fan is different but this is generally what I see happening. When A Concert Is Announced A dear will start chatting in the chats and in groups, trying to find out who is organising the preparty and where the concertgoers' WhatsApp or Facebook groups are.  This would be either before or after she has booked tickets to the city of the venue and booked hotel rooms.. refundable, of course, so she can change up or join other dears.  Host city fanclubs or groups would be scrambling to pull together a committee to handle preparty and airport meet.   When It's Only A Month Away Having decided upon the perfect Dimash tshirt or sash or button badges or fill-in-the-blanks, a dear will rev up ability to sing the concert songs because everyone knows Dimash will organise singalongs.  She confirms preparty ticket and preparty meet-ups and preparty actions (dears from the same country might sing a so...

 I've been in Dimash's fandom and hence, bouncing around social media in multiple language universes for quite a number of years and I thought I'd seen most everything.  However in the last two years, I've been experiencing the crazy waves of scammers trying anything and everything to get into fangroups, fan accounts, DMs, PMs and even replying to people's comments under artists' posts. It all began rather predictably with scammers trying to get into the group I admin (Dimash Kudaibergen International Fan Club) and trying to sell their tshirts mugs calendars.  The team of mods and admins wasn't really sure whether or not these people actually had items for sale, although some did have spaces on sites such as Creator Spring and RedBubble.  But blocking mods and tricking people with posts they edit afterwards are not the sort of behaviour that gains friends.  It took a few months and tons of banned accounts before we stopped seeing crazy behaviour in the group...

 It's a musical extravaganza when Dimash Qudaibergen holds a concert! And not only is he going to have a concert in Astana during the same week as the World Nomad Games, he is having TWO!  Whoever goes to Astana for his concert is going to get two nights of Dimash on the 13th and 14th of September and also get a bonus of Olzhas Qurmanbek's magical qobyz skills at his first solo concert on the 15th of September.  What a wonderful weekend that will be! 'Angel Love' is a beautiful beautiful song... and the way Dimash sang it, it was as if he was slowly & gently revealing a string of pearls, sphere by iridescent sphere.  At the start of the performance, you could only see his silhouette and his downbent head told you volumes about his thoughts.  Then he started singing ... Sen mağan maxabbat sıyladıñ (You gave me love) Sylladin dunie didaryn (You showed me the beautiful face of the world) And immediately one knew ... oh what a heartbreaking song this would be.  And so it was. In this article by DimashNews, I found out that Dimash himself named the song.  A song about true, pure and tender love.  Just before he sang this song, the hosts mentioned that Dimash was going to sing the song as a tribute to one of his fans (not named) who was terminally ill.  Some say it was Leysan Seitnazarova Лейсан Сейітназарова who passed away at the age of 21 too young but not before she had the chance to meet her fa...

 Smoke by Dimash Qudaibergen is such a fun ride! When I first saw the teaser with bruisers handling guns & Dimash dressed in pink and looking like he was ready for a glitzy schmaltzy Las Vegas-type show, I thought.. uh okay, what a one eighty turn from the smouldering creature of the dark. Teaser Then he released the performance video. He danced in the middle of a bevy of sirens who swayed and flickered like tongues of flames. And I thought oh wowwww Finally he released the music video of the gangsters and the glitz. I thought he must have had a ball making the video! He came out looking dead serious, talking about how he's out making waves for glory and nobody can hold him. And he just took over a gang lord's dining table (and family!) and entranced them. But only for two minutes 😆 Watch the video to the end and you'll know what I mean.  Smokin' hot, Dimash!

 'WHEN I'VE GOT YOU' IS INCREDIBLE.  I needed time to absorb this adrenaline rush of music, vocals, gorgeousness and steamy-hot star-crossed lovers story.  And the visual wealth of contrasts and colours.  I just loved the wash of rich sensual colours... dripping scarlet, night-dark blue, mysterious green... and in all that, the gorgeous blonde in stark pure white.  Did anyone start wondering who was more beautiful, Dimash or the blonde?  What a wealth for the eyes.  Thank you, Dimash, you're always providing such an electrifying feast for the senses.

In a spectacular duet, Dimash Qudaibergen and Placido Domingo performed the famous duet "Au fond du temple saint" ("At the back of the holy temple").  Today is an exciting day because at 20:45 CET, Virtuosos will broadcast a recording of Dimash Qudaibergen and Placido Domingo singing the famous duet "Au fond du temple saint" ("At the back of the holy temple"). This is a duet from Georges Bizet's 1863 opera Les pêcheurs de perles (The Pearl Fishers).   The promo video Virtuosos is an international competition where contestants (classical musicians) perform music pieces accompanied by the renowned Hungarian State Opera. An international jury will select one winner for each country. These contestants will be supported even after the competition and given opportunities to participate in international concerts.   I have been fascinated by Dimash's art for quite a while. And I've spent the past few years identifying the reasons and anyone will know what some of them are from my many posts on why I like him.   Today I found another reason. Hooray for me (more reason to stay on in this rollercoaster of a fandom 😂)   REASON : He speaks about life and love in beautiful artistic ways. His music, his lyrics, his set pieces... I've 'mourned' over the changes in this world, long letters forgotten in favour of terse emails and brief smses... complex detailed creations simplified as much as possible... relationships made transitory by many pressures and expectations... basically a world condensed and truncated.   Most people no longer take time to do things. And the results leave a taste in the mouth that disappears too fast.   Dimash creates art that talks about life and love in beautifully-arranged ways, and he prepares the message to be conveyed, like a f...
