When we first heard about the 'Shine Super Brothers S2' program, we weren't sure what it was. Surely it wasn't another version of 'The Singer' for such formats were no longer approved under current Chinese government protocols. Some said it was a competition with eliminations... others said it was just a program with artists living together and working on tasks together. Yet other said it was a reality show where artists were put in a house together and then their daily interactions were observed. It turned out that all these descriptions were correct, in a manner of speaking.
Dears waited to see what would happen.
Well, I am not sure what others experienced but I found out fast that I had to follow the Youku YouTube channel (my phone couldn't handle yet another app), the 'Shine Super Brothers' official Weibo account and random Chinese dears' Instagram accounts because they were literally on-site and would share photos and videos of their sightings of Dimash. They would also share titbits of information. The fan club in China (originally the official FC set up by BG Talent, Dimash's former talent agency) was quick to establish guidelines to safeguard Dimash's status in the program... they definitely didn't want any careless fancam upload of performance or video to jeopardise his placing in the program. So our font of gossip dried up pretty quick.
The first episode was broadcast on Saturday, and we found out fast that Youku shares different versions on YouTube, on Youku app and other apps... and would upload simultaneously performance and episode clips while the live broadcast was ongoing. I found myself waiting on THREE different live broadcasts on YouTube (consecutive ones) while using another device to catch other clips going live on the channel. We were viewing multiple Dimashes at the same time. I coped by deciding to watch one video after another. Then I'd go into DKIFC Facebook group to read the posts and into Instagram to read more posts and into Weibo to read YET MORE POSTS. Ah yes, Youku kept Dears super busy and well fed for some time.
In the first two episodes, they showed clips of the Brothers arriving at the program venue and the highlight was the solo performances by each artist.
Dimash performed 'Stranger' and it was very different from the one he did at New Wave.
The second time he performed, it was in a group with Vanness Wu (Wu Jianhao), Zhang Xiaolong, Shang Jiuxi, Wang Xi (Elvis Wang), Xu Zhixian and BIE. They sang 'We Will Rock You' so well!

The third performance was of Dimash's group performing 'Suzhou River'. Dimash spent one whole night rearranging the song to suit the group, with the help of friends.
